Reasons for Living

Colors in nature and flowing streams, pristine
Natural fountains where we drink and get clean
Fresh garden harvests and fresh fruit from a tree
All joyous reasons for us humans to be.

 Experiences that help our faith grow strong
Expressing our souls through poetry and song
The delicious warmth of a bright sunny day;
Reasons for living keep on coming our way.

 Petting a rabbit and befriending a deer
Looking up above to a sky, crystal clear
Feelings of passion or the moon on the rise
and the devotion that’s seen in a dog’s eyes.

Watching a sunset cast a bright golden light
Flower-filled hillsides or a sunflower’s height
Living in the woods or a mountaintop high
All reasons for giving ‘real living’ a try.

 Laying in the light, and embracing the sun
Campfires and singing and close hugging is fun
Lifting and giving and holding and kissing
These are the gems that no life should be missing.

 Blossoms unfolding and perfumes of a rose
Enlivening treats for our eyes and our nose
Walking in meadows, changing with the seasons
Life is worth living for all of these reasons.

 Reaching for the Truth and following the Light
Heeding our conscience and doing what is right
Reasons for living are all of the above,
First and foremost, though, is learning how to Love.
