Integrity

'Doing what is right even when no one else sees'.
It's not 'persons' that integrity aims to please,
as much as obeying the duty 'to love'
and whatever thoughts in us, that reach above
our bad habits and lazy, apathetic ways,
Properly completing each task fills our days.
Being a loyal and dependable friend,
Assuring 'loved ones' that your love has no end.
Giving love beyond what people give to you,
Acting on what our conscience calls us to do.
Caring for items and making them better,
Not buying leather shoes or a wool sweater
(Because animal exploitation is not right)
Never forgetting the innocent's plight.
Expanding our caring beyond its boundary
to all other beings who long to be free.
Which means NOT cutting trees or picking flowers
and to, mimic nature’s RECYCLING powers.
Not being a consumer supporting pollution,
But someone who will lead man’s evolution.
Not taking life, hurting, or making things worse
Some would say INTEGRITY seems like a curse!
Decide for yourself; how do you really feel?
Is there any other path that feels more real?
It is less concerned with society’s way
than with making sure Truth is having its say.
So, relax with seeking the approval of man —
Nothing builds confidence like INTEGRITY can!
