To Water

You are the embodiment of purity,
Endlessly flowing; bringing security,
Nourishment to animal, flower, and tree
Water, you bathe the land with fertility.

Sacred reflector of the sunlight’s beauty,
Quenching thirst is your noble duty.
You refresh and invigorate, uniquely.
Your lullabies inspire sleep so sweetly.

In cascading falls, you move so beautifully.
Oceans of you surround the land dutifully.
At times, your force demands humility.
At other times, you soothe so very gently.

Water, you skip over rocks with such glee.
Stones become gems in your reality.
Magically you make rainbows come to be,
when you and the sun join in ecstasy.

You are such a delight for one’s eyes to see;
Will you always and ever be flowing free?
Great life-giving resource to humanity–
Lack of respect for you seems like insanity.
